After a very successful regular season, the soccer season came to an end for the Lady Arrows soccer team Feb.1 with a loss at Tupelo.
The Lady Arrows fell to the Tupelo Lady Wave in the Class 6A North Girls Quarterfinals 1-0. CHS finished the season 16-4-3 in the Girls North.
The loss was disappointing after the Lady Arrows defeated Tupelo at home 1-0 in January. But Tupelo has been a very tough venue for all mid-Mississippi teams, both girls and boys.
Tupelo scored on a header off of a corner kick about 10 minutes into the Feb. 1 game. In the end, that proved to be enough for the Lady Wave to advance and CHS to end its season.
"After Tupelo scored, we had a flurry of scoring opportunities," said Lady Arrow head coach Thomas Bobo.
Clinton's best chance to tie the game came in the first half ,when the Lardy Arrow's Cara Harrison shot and the ball crossed the cross bar but bounced straight down.
"I'm very proud of this year's team," said Bobo. "We were a lot thinner this year than previous years in terms of overall depth, but we were still able to compete at a vey high level. All of our losses were by top 10 teams, and three of those four losses were by a one-goal margin."
"All in all it was a fantastic season," said Bobo. "We will miss our graduating seniors (Taylor Maddox, Holly Vance, Byankuh Shelby, Darby Donaho, Alex Hill, Cara Harrison) and wish them the best as they move on to Mississippi College this year."
